                            Foundation Elects New Chairman, Appoints Three New Members


Atlanta, Georgia – May 17, 2006 – Healthcare Georgia Foundation has announced the election of a new
Chairman of the Board as well as the addition of two new board members. Joseph D. Green has been
appointed Chairman of the Board, and the Foundation added three new directors in 2006: Dewey
Hickman of Navigant Consulting, Andrea Hinojosa of the Southeast Georgia Communities Project, and
Ecleamus Ricks with the Macon-Bibb County Health Department.

“Joe’s leadership, combined with the depth and diversity of experiences reflected by these directors
greatly complements the Board’s vision and capacity to improve access to affordable high quality health
care for underserved individuals and communities,” said Healthcare Georgia Foundation president Gary
D. Nelson. “The Foundation will continue to leverage the rich experiences of this Board to better position
itself to serve Georgia’s health consumers, providers, and policymakers.”

About Joseph D. Greene
Joseph D. Greene is an Endowed Professor of Finance and Economics at Augusta State University. An
accomplished author, he has written several publications on finance and economics, as well as a book
about his long journey to success, From Cotton Fields to Board Rooms. Mr. Greene has extensive
corporate directorship experience, serving as a member of the boards of The Pilgrim Health and Life
Insurance Company, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, Georgia Carolina Banchares, Inc., and First
Bank of Georgia.
