Session Description:
In this session we will provide an overview of strategic planning. The session will provide the ground work and rationale for strategic planning as it relates to non-profits. We will review the various types of strategic planning, discuss the rationale for strategic planning, identify how to prepare for strategic planning and determine who should be involved in the strategic planning process.

Session Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Have a basic understanding of the general principles of strategic planning
  2. Describe the steps in the strategic planning process
  3. Understand the relationship between strategic planning and organizational effectiveness

Technology Requirements:

  • Participants registering for programs should have access to the following technology for best viewing and participation:
  • Personal computer with Macintosh or Windows with 512 MB of RAM
  • Broadband internet connection such as an office LAN, DSL, or cable modem
  • Phone next to personal computer (or speaker phone if multiple people are viewing)
  • Computer speakers (built-in or attached)
