Healthcare Georgia Foundation Announces New Board Members

Foundation elects Richard D. Shirk Chairman of the Board, appoints two new members
Atlanta, Georgia – March 1, 2007 – Healthcare Georgia Foundation today announced that Richard D. Shirk has been elected to the position of Chairman of the Board. The Foundation also appointed two new board members, Rich D’Amaro, Chairman and CEO of Tatum, LLC, and Dr. John Ted Holloway, former District Health Director, Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health, Southeast Health Unit, Waycross, GA.
“As a respected leader in the business community and founding member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Dick brings a wealth of health care leadership and management experience to the chairmanship,” said Healthcare Georgia Foundation’s president, Gary Nelson. “We also look forward with great enthusiasm to leveraging the talent and compassion of new directors Rich D’Amaro and Ted Holloway as they guide our efforts to serve as a catalyst for better health and health care in Georgia.”
About Richard D. Shirk
Richard D. Shirk, 60, is a founding member of Healthcare Georgia Foundation’s Board of Directors, having served as a member since 1999. Prior to his retirement in April 2002, Dick was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cerulean Companies and President and Chief Executive Officer of its whollyowned subsidiary, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. He has also held senior executive positions with CIGNA Healthcare, EQUICOR-Equitable HCA Corporation and The Equitable. In addition, Mr. Shirk serves on the Board of Directors of the SSgA funds, Amerigroup Corporation and a number of privately held companies. He is also on the Board of Trustees of Gettysburg College, YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, and the Woodruff Arts Center.
