Program Assistant /Distance Learning Coordinator

Katie Watson joined the Foundation in January 2013 and serves as the Foundation’s program assistant / distance learning coordinator for the Foundation’s distance learning program, HealthTecdl. In this position, Katie assists the program officers with various duties within the grantmaking process including: preparing grant and program reports; managing external reviews of grant proposals; researching and preparing grant recommendations; manages the distance learning grants and the HealthTecdl program. Before becoming the program assistant / distance learning coordinator Katie served as the Administrative Assistant for the Foundation.

Prior to joining Healthcare Georgia Foundation, Katie was with Fayette County Public Schools in Lexington, Kentucky where she worked as a first grade teacher and she completed the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program. Katie also worked as a Para-educator, where she helped close the learning gap with third grade boys in reading, writing and math. She also has five years of customer service experience working at Mercer County Farm Bureau Insurance in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

Katie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky. While at the University of Kentucky, she was a member of the Delta Epsilon Iota Honors Society and DanceBlue’s Family Relations Committee for the University of Kentucky’s 24 hour dance marathon to support the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic where she volunteered.
